Course Overview
This nationally recognised unit provides the skills and knowledge required to operate a vehicle loading crane with a capacity of 10 metre tonnes or more. Our 3-to-4-day intensive course focuses on the unique stability requirements of truck-mounted cranes, including outrigger setup and the management of varied loads in diverse roadside and site environments.

Enrolment Requirements
Be at least 18 years of age.
Provide 100 points of Identification (e.g., Passport, Driver’s Licence, Medicare Card).
Have a Unique Student Identifier (USI).
Possess a basic level of English literacy and numeracy.
Wear closed in shoes

Crane & Vehicle Setup: Deploying outriggers and soleplates correctly to ensure a stable lifting platform
Load Chart Application: Reading and interpreting crane capacity based on boom extension and radius
Precision Lifting: Mastering the controls to slew, luff, and hoist loads smoothly between the truck and the ground
Weight Distribution: Understanding how crane operations affect the vehicle’s centre of gravity
Hazard Management: Identifying overhead powerlines, traffic flow, and ground personnel in busy delivery zones
Pre-Start & Post-Start Checks: Comprehensive inspections of the crane, hydraulics, and mounting bolts

Outcome: Upon successful completion, you will receive a Nationally Recognised Statement of Attainment and the paperwork required to apply for your High Risk Work Licence (Class CV) with Workplace Health and Safety Queensland (WHSQ)
