Whether you’ve never operated an elevated work platform before or you’re an experienced tradesperson looking to upskill for high-access industrial and construction sites, our supportive, accredited trainers will guide you through every single step.
We break down height safety calculations, emergency lowering procedures, and multi-axis machine controls into clear, easy-to-understand steps—pacing your hands-on practical time to your individual confidence level. Regardless of your experience level, you are in exceptionally safe hands.
Course Overview:
Unit Code: TLILIC0005- Licence to Operate a Boom-Type Elevating Work Platform (Boom length 11metres or more). Training and assessment are delivered by Halo Nation Training Pty Ltd (RTO ID: 32485).
This course provides the formal training and practical skills required to operate a reach stacker safely. This is a nationally recognised unit.
Your 3-Phase Journey to Success:
Phase 1 (Pre-Course Study): Get your digital learning materials instantly upon booking. Review them at your own pace to easily prepare for the theory components.
Phase 2 (Hands-On Training): Complete intensive practical driving and logbook hours with our team at our central Garbutt facility.
Phase 3 (The Final Assessment): Secure your ticket via three nationally regulated components: a closed-book theory paper, a practical math calculations section, and a hands-on driving evaluation.
What You Walk Away With:
The moment you pass, we will issue you your Candidate Assessment Summary (CAS). This paperwork serves as your legal interim licence, meaning you can step onto a job site and legally operate an EWP for work right away. It also acts as your official compliance document, which you will then use to lodge your application online with WorkSafe QLD to secure your permanent, physical High-Risk Work Licence photo card. (Please note: You must submit this paperwork online within 60 days of passing your test or the results become invalid by law. WorkSafe QLD also charges a separate government licensing fee at the time of your online submission).
Our staff are here to help you with every single phase of your journey, and we will gladly guide you and answer any questions you have along the way.

We know working at heights and stepping up for a high-risk assessment can bring a few test-day nerves. Our priority is making sure you feel calm, capable, and ready to operate safely on your first attempt.
Elevated Work Platform training involves specialised high-reach machinery and dedicated practical yard scheduling, so if you do not pass a component of your assessment on the first try, standard re-assessment fees will apply. If this happens, don't worry—our team will debrief you on the exact areas to focus on, give you targeted guidance, and work with you to re-book your testing day so you can walk away with your licence with total confidence.
(Please note: Asset Training Academy Terms & Conditions apply to all course assessments and re-assessment guarantees).

FAQs
What happens after you pass your assessment:
-
You must lodge your Candidate Assessment Summary (CAS) paperwork online with WorkSafe QLD within 60 days of passing your practical test. If you miss this 60-day window, your assessment results become invalid by law, and you will have to re-sit the course.
WorkSafe QLD charges an independent licensing fee to issue your physical photo card. This fee is paid directly to the government during your online lodgement and is not included in your Asset Training Academy course fee.
Warning: If you miss the 60-day window, your assessment results become completely invalid by law, and you will have to pay to re-sit the entire course.
-
Once issued, your permanent physical photo card licence is valid for 5 years from the date of issue. The exact expiry date will be clearly printed on the front of your card.
-
WorkSafe QLD offers a strict 12-month grace period from your expiry date to renew your licence online without having to retrain.
Please note: You cannot legally operate a reach stacker at work during this grace window while your licence is expired.
-
If you pass the 12-month grace window, your licence can no longer be renewed administratively. To get back on the machines legally, you are required by law to re-enrol in the course, complete the training, and pass a brand-new high-risk assessment.
