Course Overview
This nationally recognised unit provides the skills and knowledge required to operate a bridge and gantry crane that is controlled from a permanent cabin or a remote control (pendant or radio), and has three or more powered movements. Our 2-to-3-day intensive course is designed for workshop professionals, fitters, and boilermakers who need to move heavy assets safely and efficiently.

Enrolment Requirements
Be at least 18 years of age
Provide 100 points of Identification (e.g., Passport, Driver’s Licence, Medicare Card)
Have a Unique Student Identifier (USI)
Possess a basic level of English literacy and numeracy for weight and distance calculations
Wear closed in shoes
You will Learn
Pre-Start & Safety Inspections: Checking the hoist, bridge, gantry, and travel limits for defects.
Load Assessment: Determining the weight and centre of gravity of irregular workshop loads.
Precision Handling: Mastering "three-way" movements (Long Travel, Cross Travel, and Hoist) to position loads safely.
Communication & Control: Using standardized hand signals and radio protocols when working with a Dogger.
Hazard Identification: Controlling risks such as overhead obstructions, personnel exclusion zones, and load swing.
Safe Shutdown: Correctly securing the crane and parking the hoist after operation.

Outcome: Upon successful completion, you will receive a Nationally Recognised Statement of Attainment and the paperwork required to apply for your High Risk Work Licence (Class CB) with Workplace Health and Safety Queensland (WHSQ)
